The ADA Transition Plan helps us identify and remove barriers in the public right-of-way. The plan focuses on sidewalks, curb ramps and pedestrian pushbuttons throughout our city. It supports people with disabilities, people using mobility devices, transit riders and anyone who walks or rolls through our community.
We held an ADA open house at City Hall on February 1, 2018 to share information about federal ADA planning requirements, explain how we were developing the ADA Transition Plan and gather community input on accessibility issues and priorities. Attendees identified missing sidewalk segments and better connections from residential areas to transit and commercial areas as concerns, and they prioritized access to schools and transit. The draft plan was also available for public review and comment in January and February 2018.
