Jury overview

What to bring

Jury service may require long periods of waiting. We encourage you to bring a book or small activity with you. The court will provide writing materials for note taking. Please leave these materials in the jury assembly room at the end of each day.

Compensation

Payment for jury service is $20 per day plus mileage for traveling to and from the court. We process payments every two weeks. You’ll receive a check within four weeks of your service. Juror service and mileage will appear on the same check.

Length of service

If you aren’t selected to serve on the jury, you’ll be excused for the rest of your service and your obligation is complete.

If you are selected to serve on the jury, trials may last one to three days.

Jury environment

To maintain an unbiased environment, cell phones, laptops, iPads, and other electronic devices are not allowed in the courtroom and jury assembly room. If you need access to your phone during these times, court staff can help you.

You must stay in the jury assembly room when you’re not in the courtroom. Wear your badge at all times, including breaks and lunches.

Meals

You’re responsible for your own meals. You’ll have a one-hour lunch break each day. If you need to refrigerate food, court staff can help you.

Proof of service

If you need proof of jury service, please let court staff know or contact us at 206-973-4610.
