Comprehensive Plan amendment docket process

Understand how we review and approve proposed updates to our long-term growth plans and zoning rules. See what proposals we've worked on recently and where they currently stand in the process.

How the docket process works

The docket process is how we receive and review proposals to update (amend) the Comprehensive Plan and development regulations. We review proposed amendments at the same time to ensure consistency between policy, regulations, and state law.

Proposed amendments may include:

  • Changes to Comprehensive Plan goals, policies, maps, or text
  • Changes to zoning, land use, development, environmental, or other development regulations in the SeaTac Municipal Code
  • Related amendments to both the Comprehensive Plan and development regulations

Who can apply

Any of the following types of people or organizations may propose a Comprehensive Plan or development regulation amendment:

  • Individual
  • Property owner
  • Business owner
  • Neighborhood group
  • Agency
  • Neighboring jurisdiction
  • City Council
  • Board
  • Commission
  • City staff member
