Learn about the Community Court program at SeaTac Municipal Court and the services available to defendants.
The SeaTac Community Court (SCC) seeks to break the cycle of crime, reduce recidivism, and reduce the impact of low-level offenses on the justice system through access to supportive services.
Using a problem-solving model that courts have adopted nationwide, SCC addresses the underlying issues that lead to involvement with the criminal justice system. Substance use, access to mental health treatment, and homelessness are at the root of most low-level offenses. By providing services that match an individual’s needs, we find solutions that help lead people out of the cycle of recidivism while holding them accountable for their actions.
SeaTac Community Court hosts the resource center on the first and third Wednesdays of the month in City Council chambers. Community partners are present to provide a variety of services such as housing, state IDs and licenses, health insurance, job training and placement, mental health treatment, substance use treatment, and food assistance. Services are available to individuals with cases in SeaTac Municipal Court and to all members of the community. Snacks and refreshments are provided.
