Each year, our Public Works Department inspects a specific number of private stormwater systems to ensure they’re being maintained and functioning properly.
Definition of a private stormwater system
Private stormwater systems can include detention, flow control and water quality treatment facilities, which reduce stormwater’s peak flows and capture the pollutants it carries.
What facility owners need to know
Properly maintaining these facilities protects our downstream waterways from flooding and water quality issues. It's also necessary for complying with federal and state regulations.
Under SeaTac Municipal Code 12.10.160, property owners are responsible for maintaining and repairing stormwater facilities on their property.
