Councilmembers

Our residents elect councilmembers, who serve part-time and may also have full-time jobs. Councilmembers help make city policies and ensure local government serves the community.

Responsibilities

Councilmembers

Councilmembers make policies and ensure our community is safe and serves residents effectively.

Mayor

The mayor presides at Council meetings and has the same rights, privileges, and immunities as other councilmembers. While they don’t have regular administrative duties, they are the official head of our city for ceremonial purposes. In times of public emergency—or if the governor declares military law—the mayor can command the police to maintain law and order.

Deputy mayor

The deputy mayor handles the mayor’s responsibilities whenever the mayor is absent.
