The Arts, Culture and Library Advisory Committee (ACLAC) advises the City Council. The mayor appoints members, and the Council confirms them.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for more access and awareness of art, culture, and library programs
  • Make recommendations about art and culture to the community, including creating a bridge between our community and the Valley View Library
  • Inform the City Council on art, culture, and library activities and programs
  • Represent the community’s interest in art, culture, and libraries
  • Develop relationships with schools and local, regional, state, and national art and cultural organizations
  • Find grants and resources to improve and promote programs
  • Encourage community conversations and education on issues such as literacy, diversity, and intellectual freedom
  • Create and manage an Arts and Cultural Master Plan
  • Work with King County’s 4Culture Grant program to find funding sources

Arts & Culture Master Plan

This plan guides the Parks and Recreation Department on arts and culture programs. It also makes our city more competitive when applying for federal, state and local art grants.
