Civic Campus Project

In 2020, the City of SeaTac contracted with an architectural firm to evaluate the condition of City Hall. The evaluation resulted in a list of upgrades needed to keep the 40+-year-old city hall building safe, secure, and structurally sound as well as serve the growing City workforce and community for another 40 years. The architect’s estimate for renovating the city hall building was nearly $74 million in 2021.

After discussion, the City Council directed staff to evaluate opportunities for creating a “Civic Campus.” The campus will include a new City Hall along with other amenities such as space for art, community services, food, community gatherings, and possibly other amenities. The Civic Campus would be a place where the SeaTac community comes together—a welcome, inclusive location that reflects SeaTac’s unique identity.

Major Milestones
SeaTac Council selects site for future Civic Campus

During the July 22, 2025 City Council meeting, the SeaTac City Council directed the City Manager to proceed with purchasing the property for the SeaTac Civic Campus at 2701 S. 200th Street (see photos to the right). This decision was reached after seven months of community engagement, technical analysis, and careful cross-discipline analysis. During the July 22 meeting, multiple community members and representatives of community-based organizations spoke in support of the proposed site location and the project; their comments were echoed by City Councilmembers.

More than 600 people provided feedback to the City Council during the most recent round of feedback. Special thanks to our partner organizations in helping to obtain this feedback and providing support to the SeaTac community: ReWA, Highline School District, Valley View KCLS, Healthpoint, PIE, Highline Heritage Museum, IRC, Windsor Heights, LCSNW, Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce, ACHD, and Serve Ethiopians Washington.

The 2701 S. 200th Street site is about 8.5 acres in area, located near Angle Lake station, and is readily accessible to the SeaTac community. The site is large enough to support a wide variety of SeaTac community uses such as a Farmer’s and/or International Market, restaurants/cafés, housing, community supportive services, and small business support services. The site will also house a new City Hall and related civic services. Please see South 200th Information Sheet to the right for more information.

The SeaTac City Council’s decision to proceed was carefully evaluated and is based upon a Project Feasibility Report prepared by the City’s consultant (JLL, Inc). The Project Feasibility Report consists of a cover memo, the Report, and extensive appendices (all of these are located in the Documents section to the right).

Looking forward, the City anticipates the following work to occur between now and the end of 2025:

  • August – September: Completion of the site due diligence (soil testing).
  • August – October: Council review and action to approve a bond to pay for the purchase of the site.
  • November: Issuance of bond to fund purchase of the site.
  • December: Closing on the purchase.
  • 2026: Community engagement and start of master planning of the Civic Campus.

Civic Campus Survey #1

We conducted our first online and in-person community survey in March 2025 to gather input on what residents would like to see in a new City Hall. We appreciate everyone who shared their thoughts. Here are the results of the survey, highlighting the community’s priorities and vision for the future City Hall: Community Survey Results.
