A clearance letter, background check, or criminal history record may be required for employment, volunteer work, licensing, housing applications, adoption proceedings, or other situations where an individual's criminal history must be verified. These records can be requested through the Washington State Patrol website at:  Washington State Patrol.  Under "I want to..." select Request Criminal History" and follow the prompts to pay for and obtain a Washington State Criminal History record.
