The Human Resources Department is a strategic partner in building and supporting a highly skilled, diverse, and motivated team of employees, working together to support achievement of City goals. The Department models core City values is responsible for citywide benefits management, leave administration, recruitment and retention, classification compensation, employee relations and providing a rounded learning and development program to all members of the City. Our focus is around the performance and engagement of the City's greatest asset, the people.

The City's 2026 Salary Schedule was adopted by City Council during the mid-biennium budget review process.

The City has a labor agreement with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employee (AFSCME): 2024 - 2027 AFSCME Contract.

The City contracts services with the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority for Fire Services and the King County Sheriff's Office for Police Services.
