The following Council direction was given at the July 8, 2025 Council Study Session: 

Budget request related to readiness efforts for the FIFA 2026 World Cup.

Council direction/consensus: concurrence with the proposed readiness strategy. 

 

The following Council direction was given at the July 8, 2025 Regular Council Meeting:

Managing Major Expenses

Council direction/consensus: Pursue staff recommendations and Council-directed areas of interest related to Fire Services, Law Enforcement, City staffing, and other specified capital and operating expenses in preparation for the City’s 2027-28 Biennial Budget.

Council voted to not take a collective position on Agenda Bill #6739:
Agenda Bill #6739; A Resolution stating a collective position regarding the ballot measure on the 2026-2031 King County Parks Levy.

Agenda Bill #6729; An Ordinance #25-1013 authorizing the City Manager to amend the interlocal agreement with the State of Washington for Asylum Seeker Emergency Housing for state fiscal year 2026 and accepting the grant; enter into contracts with the Congolese Integration Network and designated hoteliers for migrant housing services; to extend the temporary limited-term Human Services Coordinator position; and to amend the City’s 2025-2026 biennial budget was adopted July 8, 2025 and becomes effective July 19, 2025.

Agenda Bill #6730; A Resolution authorizing the evaluation of community uses at the civic campus and authorizing the City Manager to explore shared option(s) for regional consolidation with regional partners for court, police, and regional justice uses was referred to the July 22, 2025 Regular Council Meeting as an action item.
