City Manager Weekly Update April 3, 2020

Post Date:04/03/2020 8:11 PM

Greetings,,

As you can imagine, a majority of both my week and my staff's week was spent on the City's COVID-19 response.

Starting Tuesday, April 7, the City will be moving to a virtual City Hall. We will have more about how this affects City operations on the front page of our website next week.

Today we received sad news from Public Health-Seattle & King County. that one resident in SeaTac passed away due to the COVID-19 virus.

The City has been actively working to protect our community. Mayor Erin Sitterley addressed the community today in a video message regarding COVID-19.

This week we learned that King County is housing about 90 homeless individuals in a hotel near 196th and International Boulevard.  The City is working on learning more  about how the community will be affected by this temporary facility.

Good news for property owners. King County has extended the property tax deadline for some taxpayers.

Due to COVID-19, Sound Transit introduced additional service reductions on Link and on ST Express routes operated by Pierce Transit and King County Metro starting Monday, April 6.

In order to better serve our community, we have made changes our home page of our website and added three pages of COVID Resources.

April 1 was Census day. The City has a self response rate of 36% but we want everyone counted. Please fill out your Census form online today.

The City's first responders continue to serve our community. Firefighters put out a house fire where six people were displaced.

SeaTac Police helped a developmentally disabled man with much needed food.

Wash your hands and take care of each other.
