Judgment Against City in Civil Trial

SeaTac, WA (January 25, 2016) – This morning a Superior Court jury returned its verdict for nearly $9.6 million against the City of SeaTac in an action filed by K&S Development. The jury also returned a verdict of $257,233 against K&S in favor of the City, in a trial which included several claims and counter claims.

This case involves property in the South 154^th Street Station Area that was acquired by the City from several lenders and through a Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure from K&S in 2009.

Many of the claims asserted by K&S involve alleged actions taken by the City as far back as 2005. The City prevailed on five of the eight claims that were under consideration by the jury.

“We are anticipating an appeal”, said Mary Mirante Bartolo, SeaTac’s City Attorney.
