City Council Appoints Interim City Manager

SeaTac, WA (January 20, 2016) – Last night the SeaTac City Council appointed Donny Payne as the Interim City Manager who will assume his duties immediately.

Payne, a resident of Des Moines, was selected from a slate of four candidates after an open interview process during the meeting. His background includes a Masters Degree from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington, private sector management experience, high level military positions and law enforcement.

“Donny will bring new energy and a fresh perspective to the City at an incredibly important time” said Mayor Rick Forschler. There are several important hiring decisions to make, a need to immediately begin work on the new interlocal agreement with the Port and budget considerations in front of us. I am confident that the existing, highly experienced staff will assist with this transitional period and continue their dedicated work to the citizens and business of our City. We are fortunate to have someone with his skills and abilities available to us within our local community”

No time limit has been set for Payne’s appointment. In addition to other duties he will also assist with planning for the recruitment and appointment of the next permanent City Manager.

“I am incredibly honored and tremendously humbled for the opportunity to work for the City of SeaTac and will do my best to gain the trust and confidence of the citizens, Council and staff of this wonderful community”, said Payne.
